Orsett:

Secret tunnel

An underground passage was once rumoured to go from a house called the Lunes to Orsett Hall (TQ651823). The Hall, originally 17th century, was destroyed by fire in 2007, rebuilt, and is now an hotel. As often happens in these stories, two children were said to have found the tunnel entrance in the cellar of the Lunes many years ago, but only crawled along it for about 20m before giving up.
