| Encounter: | "A Winfarthing woman once assured me that she had seen an apparition of this type [a phantom dog.] She said she was looking out of her bedroom window about 9 o'clock one Summer evening, when she saw a huge black dog approaching her cottage. It padded up to the gate, and vanished. Her grandfather (I think) died shortly afterwards, and my informant was firmly convinced that the dog had come to herald his death." |
