SHUCKLAND       Introduction        Alphabetical List of Locations
Location: Barling, ESSEX
Legend:

About three centuries ago, one of the farms in this village - like many others - had a dog that was used to guard the place. But one night he failed, was slain by wolves, and was buried the next day. The spirit of the dog, however, wouldn't be quiet, and frightened people in the field where it was buried. After a couple of months the local folk decided to dig up the dog, but the grave was empty. For at least a year, people would see the dog's big red glowing eyes in the cornfield, and even today, it's said that, on a foggy night, you can sometimes see there it's ghostly shadow and glowing eyes.
